Challenge
Current neurodivergence screening tools like M-CHAT, CARS, etc are outdated and hard to use. Thus, failing families and educators through poor design, broken communication, and subjective evaluations.
Solution
Spark Up is a tablet application that serves as a one-stop platform for teachers to access schedules and activities designed to track early signs of neurodivergence, detailed reports for each student, and updated global neurodivergence resources.

How Might Weβ¦
create a tool for teachers that supports consistent evaluations for neurodivergence, offers updated resources, and enables real-time data tracking and parent communication without requiring extensive training?
3. Development
Since kindergartens already use tablets for assessments and interactive activities, we designed our tool (app) specifically for tablet screens to ensure familiarity and ease of use.

Mid fidelity Interface for teachers
Testing with Kindergarten Teachers

After testing out mid-fidelity screens and their flows with users, we took notes and started making the final interface of the application.
Gamification of the tests
In parallel, we also worked on gamifying the tests to make them more engaging and appealing for students. Mainly focusing on three neurodivergent conditions -
ADHD
Autism
Dyslexia
We ensured that the games were tailored to the kindergarten age group (ages 4β6). We also considered constraints such as using audio-only instructions and avoiding words or letters.
* These games were created with limited psychological knowledge and currently serve as placeholders for future development of well-researched and clinically validated detection games.
